Named by Cake Masters Magazine as one of the Top 10 Cake Artists in the USA, Jean Schapowal, started Cakes with Character by scratch over 15 years ago wearing the hats of artist, head baker and mom of three.
Today her passion for designing one-of-a-kind cartoony, pop, comic book style cake creations has taken Jean all over the world, and onto our TV screens. A 3x Cake Masters Awards Finalist, Jean is Food Network's Big Bake Canada Winner, and has been featured on numerous TV Cake Challenges.
Jean is also a contributor for Satin Ice, and a Cake Dutchess Certified Instructor.
She loves to create fun and engaging pieces, cakes that “pop”. When people see one of her creations, they can say, “oh that's a Jean cake”!

Welcome to another year at NY Comic Con and the 2nd year of being apart of this huge cultural event. NY Comic Con is hosted every year at the largest venue in New York, the Jacob Javitz Convention Center. It ran from Oct. 9th - 12th with 4 days of huge crowds and lots of enthusiasm.
For our 2nd year we improved on a few things from last years success and put together the “ Pop Culture Pop - Up Boutique” showcasing edible wearable art!

One of Jean's greatest joys is teaching others the art of cake decorating. She is a frequent contributor for Satin Ice, and a Cake Dutchess Certified Instructor.
Whether teaching at schools, national and international conferences, or virtually from her own home...Jean loves sharing the techniques and tricks she's learned on her journey with others!
